ISO 3159:2009 is an international standard that defines the term "chronometer" and outlines the testing program and minimum requirements for wrist-chronometers with a spring balance oscillator. It was first defined in 1976 and revised in 2009. The standard is the basis for the COSC's chronometer certification.
