ISO 4426:2021 is an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard focused on Intelligent transport systems — Lower layer protocols for usage in the European digital tachograph. Specifically, it defines the communication requirements for the Smart Digital Tachograph (SDT) as mandated by European Union Regulation 2016/799. In essence, it sets the technical specifications for how lower-level protocols are used within this system for data exchange.
