ISO 14814:2006 defines a reference architecture and terminology for automatic vehicle and equipment identification in road transport and traffic telematics. It provides a common framework for unambiguous identification in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Road Transport and Traffic Telematics (RTTT) applications, particularly in Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) and Automatic Equipment Identification (AEI). This standard also identifies the data construct as an ITS/RTTT message, according to ISO.
