ISO 25178-71:2017 is an international standard that defines software measurement standards (Type S1 and Type S2) and their associated file format for verifying the software of instruments measuring 3D surface texture. Specifically, it covers the areal method of surface texture measurement, using a digital file format for calibration and verification of instruments. The standard also defines the file format of Type S1 software measurement standards for the calibration of instruments.
