ISO 24534-5:2011 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for an electronic registration identification (ERI) system using symmetric encryption for vehicles. It focuses on the secure exchange of vehicle identification data between an ERI reader/writer and the ERI data stored on the vehicle. This standard builds upon existing Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) provisions and includes security measures and provisions for using additional vehicle registration data.
