ISO 9277:2022 is an international standard that defines a method for determining the specific surface area of solids using the Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (BET) method of gas adsorption. It focuses on measuring the total specific external and internal surface area of both disperse (like nanoparticles) and porous solids by quantifying the amount of gas physically adsorbed on their surfaces. This standard is based on the 2015 recommendations of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
