ISO 20804:2022 is an international standard that specifies the use of small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) to determine the specific surface area of porous and particulate systems. This method can be applied to a wide range of heterogeneous systems, including dilute and concentrated solutions, two-phase systems, and heterogeneous compact solids. It can measure both mass-specific and volume-specific surface areas, as well as the surface area of open pores, inaccessible pores, and inclusions.
