ISO 9509:2006 is an International Standard that details a method for assessing the short-term inhibitory effect of water, wastewater, or test substances on nitrifying bacteria in activated sludge. It specifies the procedures for evaluating the inhibitory effect on these bacteria during a standard 3-hour exposure period, or up to 24 hours for weakly nitrifying sludge.
