ISO 11733:2004 is an international standard that specifies a method for determining the elimination and biodegradability of organic compounds in an aqueous medium using an activated sludge simulation test. It's used to assess how well organic compounds are broken down by microorganisms in wastewater treatment plants. The standard applies to organic compounds that are soluble in tap water, dispersible in water, non-volatile, and not inhibitory to the test microorganisms.
