ISO 9308-1:2014 is an international standard that defines a method for enumerating Escherichia coli (E. coli) and coliform bacteria in water, particularly for waters with low bacterial background flora. It uses membrane filtration followed by culturing on a chromogenic coliform agar medium. The standard was last reviewed and confirmed in 2019.
