ISO/TS 22859:2022 is an international standard focused on biobanking human mesenchymal stromal cells (hUC-MSCs) derived from umbilical cord tissue. It outlines requirements for the collection, isolation, culture, characterization, quality control, cryopreservation, storage, thawing, disposal, distribution, and transport of hUC-MSCs. This standard applies to organizations performing biobanking of hUC-MSCs for research and development, but not for in vivo application, clinical use, or therapeutic applications.
