ISO 19926-1:2019 is an international standard that specifies the system performance and operation of ground-based weather radar systems. It covers systems measuring the atmosphere using frequencies between 2 GHz and 10 GHz and is applicable to linear polarization parabolic radar systems, dual-polarization, and single-polarization radars. The standard focuses on how these radar systems can be used for various purposes, including quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE), hydrometeor classification, wind speed estimation, and detection/surveillance of severe weather.
