Land must undergo a conversion period before organic status is granted.

Typical conversion period:

Crop TypeConversion Period
Annual crops2 years
Perennial crops3 years

During this period:

3. Documentation System

Operators must maintain records of:

  • Seed source

Important EU Organic Rules

Traceability

Every product must be traceable from farm to final buyer.

Organic farms require separation from conventional farms to avoid contamination.

Parallel Production Restrictions

If both organic and conventional farming occur together:

  • Strict segregation is required.
